The largest podcast network in the U.S., PodcastOne, recently announced it has launched an all-new platform supported by a state-of-the-art mobile application. The new app not only includes all of the standard features of a podcast platform but also exceptional video and social networking technology unlike any other today.
These unique features were developed to engage the podcast listener in new ways that facilitate social engagement with podcast hosts and guests. With more than 200 individual podcasts bringing 340 hours of new programming per week and 1.5 billion downloads each year, the PodcastOne app has been greatly anticipated and is expected to be well received. It is available for download as of July 14, 2017, free of charge for Apple and Android devices via PodcastOne.com, iTunes and Google Play.
The collaborative platform offered by the PodcastOne mobile app provides users a means to actively chat in forums and send private messages to one another in addition to giving them access to exclusive photos, trending articles and polls. Another feature is that the app includes a loyalty program that awards virtual currency that can be redeemed for discounts on merchandise, virtual-reality (VR) event tickets and other premium content.
“The launch of our new PodcastOne mobile app is a milestone for our company, as we are providing a host of features for our listeners to choose from to enhance their listening experience that no other network provides,” said Norman Pattiz, founder and executive chairperson of PodcastOne. “Now, with our partners at MANDT VR, we can offer a truly immersive experience that allows the listener to sit in the recording studio right across the table from the host.”
VR events and content are offered courtesy of MANDT VR, which set up the necessary equipment at the PodcastOne studios in Burbank, Beverly Hills and New York City. The company also provided mobile units to locations around the country where podcasts are produced remotely. While much of the VR content will be recorded, the technology will also allow for the delivery of live broadcasts with Adam Carolla, who holds the Guinness Book of World Records award for Most Downloaded Podcast, and others.
The complete podcast library that will be accompanied by 360-degree video and VR content include The Adam Carolla Show, Dr. Drew, Adam & Drew, Koy Pond with Jo Koy, Jay Mohr’s Mohr Stories, Laila Ali Lifestyle, You’re Welcome with Chael Sonnen, Reasonable Doubt, Art of Charm, Forbes Under 30 and Geffen Playhouse Unscripted.
Co-founder and CEO of MANDT VR, Neil Mandt, weighed in on his partnership with Pattiz.
“Norm is a pioneer in the media space who is not afraid to embrace new technologies to advance an industry – a mindset that’s propelled PodcastOne to unparalleled success,” said Mandt. “The drive to innovate through new mediums combined with the flexible nature of podcast consumption and presence of a highly engaged audience creates the perfect environment for introducing the world to the next wave of audio-visual storytelling.”
