Pepperjam, which is a company based in Philadelphia that provides affiliate marketing solutions, has just named Matt Gilbert as its chief executive officer.
Gilbert has more than 20 years of experience in digital marketing, and over the years he has demonstrated an ability to improve both the profitability and the market share of the companies he has helped build. He joins Pepperjam having previously worked for Kinetic, where he transitioned the company from a marketing services firm to a data services company. He did this by creating an audience data product that has become the company’s flagship offering.
Before Kinetc, Gilbert co-founded 500friends, and he was senior vice president and general manager of the Loyalty Services group prior to the company being bought by Merkle. He has also held various leadership positions in the area of digital marketing for the likes of Ask Jeeves, Excite@Home, IAC/InterActive and Webloyalty.com.
Stephen Davis, who is the chairman of the board of Pepperjam, said that what made Gilbert the perfect choice to lead the company was Gilbert’s extensive experience of growing digital marketing firms that were similarly data driven. They also liked Gilbert’s demonstrative passion for showing customers how they can improve marketing effectiveness through both technology and data.
Gilbert himself sees Pepperjam as uniquely positioned to become a leader in the field of affiliate marketing, as the industry heads into its next generation. He also sees their market as being one in which companies like Pepperjam have a clear path to succeed, given its high-quality team of employees, its encouraging investors, and its excellent technology. He believes that they have the foundation of becoming an industry leader.
Gilbert will work in the company’s Philadelphia office, where he hopes to do for Pepperjam what he has done for other digital marketing firms during the past two decades.
