Top Tips from Real Estate Mogul Hussain Sajwani: The DAMAC Owner Shares His Secrets for Success

Have you ever dreamt of leading the luxurious life of a real estate mogul? Are you fascinated by the incredible business skills of self-made billionaires? If so, then you are probably well aware of Hussain Sajwani, the man behind Dubai-based property development giant DAMAC Properties.

In his April 2017 interview with IdeaMensch, an interview site with a bent toward the entrepreneurial, the DAMAC owner gave aspiring business tycoons valuable lessons in how to live their most prosperous, successful lives. When asked about the habits that make him a more productive entrepreneur, Hussain Sajwani responded, “I like to travel and expand my horizons. This gives me the opportunity to see things from another perspective. I also like to read about history and civilizations as there are a lot of lessons that can be learned.” We could all stand to adopt these habits, too!

Hussain Sajwani also gave IdeaMensch readers a glimpse into his daily life. The DAMAC owner described his typical daily activities – and demonstrated that even as a multibillionaire, he still works as hard as ever: “My typical day revolves around meeting with members of my management team and ensuring I am updated on the various aspects of the business. Another integral part of my day is meeting business partners and members of the business community. Nurturing and expanding my network of contacts is crucial to my business.”

Sajwani also discussed the amazing expansion of DAMAC Properties, a company that’s been a major player in the growth of Dubai while also making a name for itself with projects all over the world. His secret? Trusting his team. “We have to [sic] 2,000 employees and [DAMAC Properties] would not have grown this quickly, with strong foundations and in just 15 years, if I did not believe in empowering my team and giving them the bandwidth to do what they do best,” the DAMAC owner explained to IdeaMensch.

It isn’t all work and no play for the DAMAC owner, though: “I… ensure to spend valuable time with my family as this goes a long way in keeping a balanced life,” Sajwani said. It makes perfect sense that Hussain Sajwani values family time, because working at his father’s store as a child is what first sparked his interest in business. “Growing up, I would often spend time after school helping in the family business. …[The] experience was instrumental in nurturing my entrepreneurial spirit,” he told IdeaMensch.

Hussain Sajwani even gave IdeaMensch readers some free business advice: “I like to learn new things and new skills as it allows me to re-invent myself. I also set new challenges to overcome and this helps me to evolve and bring new dimension to my businesses.” He recommended that other entrepreneurs do the same. The DAMAC owner continued: “I would advise one to invest in real estate, especially in established global cities that have a bright future. Despite the short-term ups and downs, real estate in such locations will always reap good valuations in future and what is attainable today may be unaffordable in future as prime positions become scarcer. I always say, don’t wait on real estate as properties in good locations most certainly go up in value.”

For those entrepreneurial readers looking for further inspiration, Sajwani shared his favorite motivational quote: “Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion,” which is attributed to Jack Welch, former head of General Electric.

There’s no doubt that Hussain Sajwani is a great business leader and visionary. International real estate buffs anxiously await news of DAMAC’s next projects, but in the meantime, they can keep themselves busy by following Sajwani’s advice – and who knows? Maybe it will help them to become as successful as the DAMAC owner himself!
